Say goodbye to the ads on the right side of Google!
It was reported by numerous sources last week that Google will no longer show ads on the right hand side of the SERP. Ok but what does that really mean? Well folks, that’s why I am here today, to explain to you what is going to change and how it will affect SEO.
Are Marketers in trouble?
It depends on how big the company is. The new change will have a big effect on small/medium size companies, from now on it will get even more expensive to advertise on Google, which means that companies with a small budget for online advertising will probably no longer run their ads.
That’s not the end of the world though! The new change also means that the organic space is now even more precious! (My precious!!!) So now it's a good time for you to focus on SEO.
Is still worth investing in Adwords? If you have a big budget to invest in online ads, I don’t see why you shouldn’t, but I can guarantee you would get the same or even better results if you were investing your money in SEO. A professional SEO company would definitely get you better results, plus you would be saving a lot of money.
Will the ads at the top change too? They will and that’s the main reason Google has decided to get rid of the right side ads. A fourth (additional) ad will be placed above the search results (Highly Commercial Queries). Apparently Google has been testing a new layout since 2010 and the new change is now rolling in and it will be finalised this week.
